Teen Art Café - First Saturday every month 7-10pm, $5 at the door.
This is a unique opportunity for teens to gather and share poetry, individual artwork, music and open mic. Upcoming events will also include bands, and creative activities with art, music, and dance.

Teen Voices: Video/Performance Project
“New Voices”: a Just Imagine Creative Center media project
In this workshop, Teens will learn: media related production and editing skills (lighting, camera, production, story-boarding, etc.), writing and collaborative team effort skills, interviewing skills, and performance documentation.
Most importantly teens will have an avenue to creatively and collaboratively work with peers to “voice” ideas, concerns, hopes and individual creative skills.

We are currently working in collaboration with Boys & Girls Club to offer this pilot program through a grant from Rotary Good Works Committee. Additional programs will be offered after the pilot program has completed. If you are interested in being involved with future programs, please let us know! 932-9808
Current Opportunity in this project is for Boys & Girls Club members ages 12-15 (must be 12 as of June). If you are not a B&G Club member, it is easy to sign up, even if just for this project!
- to be a B&G member: fill out registration form with $25.00 one time summer fee (scholarships available). Checks payable to TCAPS. Members can then go to any and all B&G summer programs...daily til August 15. WJH site open 8 til 5 pm. everyday.

Possible future project avenues/ideas for students are:
“Artists Voices”: Teens could assist in documenting and interviewing area visual and performing artists including those who exhibit and perform at Just Imagine Creative Center.
“Teen Voices”: Teens could assist in documenting and interviewing area teen performers who participate with “Tara’s Teens” at the TEEN CAFÉ (Just Imagine Creative Center.
“Children Present”: Teens could assist in documenting the Multi-Cultural After School theater productions held either in Just Imagine Center or on location.
“Teen Partners”: Teens could partner with area media professionals and document their experiences.
“Teen Voices”: Teens could write, produce, document any media project they designed.

Culturistic: A group where teens will have the opportunity to explore cultural influences in their lives and his or her environment.
Photo Shop: A group centered on photography, visual art, music, and our community.
“What's the Story” Creating Altered Books with Young Adults and Teens –
3 Saturdays 1-3pm, dates TBA top
An altered book is a published book that has been changed into a new work of visual art through various art processes such as collage, painting, drawing, and creative writing. Teens and young adults will be able to create there own stories and recycle the book into one-of-a-kind artwork that becomes a personal expression.
Description of Altered Book -Individuals can draw or paint on the pages or the cover of the book, and add or remove text, poetry, images, etc. Niches can be cut into the book to create a shadow box-effects, doors, or pop-up features. Other processes include decorating the book with stamps, stickers, fabric, beads, wire, and other found objects.
Workshop Schedule : Pilot Video Workshops
- Students involved will be able to work on projects at B&GC sites on off days.
- *All workshops will be at Just Imagine Creative Center unless noted.
- 20 students will be chosen for the workshop, to include 10 per team (Production Team/Acting Team)
- Final production will be a 2 minute performance or discovery piece
Week 1: (July 14-18)
TUESDAY JULY 15: 1:30-4:30 p.m.
Pre-production Workshop in the Basics of Video and Acting including roles, equipment, and pre-production training. Brainstorming, break into teams, and in-field camera work.
Facilitators: Mike Kroes and Ariadne Baker-Dunn
Limit 20 students, 10 per team.
THURSDAY JULY 17: 1:30-4:00 p.m.
Production Team – Hands-on Camera/Equipment Training.
Performance Team - theater games and on-camera work.
*Both Production & Performance Teams will come together at end of each session (a.m./p.m.) to talk about scene/skit; what the roles of writers, actors, director, etc. and look at any filming that has been done. At the end of this workshop 2 video cameras will be signed out to both B&GC.

Week 2: (July 21-25)
TUESDAY JULY 22: 1:30-4:30 p.m.
Production Team – will define end project -either discovery or performance- and what video techniques (documentary or interviewing) will be used. Camera work.
Performance Team - will define end project – skit, improv, etc, Begin rehearsal.

Video Premiere: An Open House/Party for B&GC students and families (ALL B&GC teens & families) will be held at Just Imagine Creative Center. TBA date/time.
Air Date: The Teen video projects will be aired on TCTV2 Public Access during a designated and promoted time slot. Name of program to be determined by teens. Air date to be determined by TCTV2.
Each participating student will receive a dvd of finished projects.
